Advice to the applicant

I have been monumentally distracted recently. I seem to be doing little bits here and there, and I have to say, keeping track of it all is rather exhausting. I find it hard to keep focussed on one thing at a time, so when I have to research something that could have been provided... One... Continue Reading →

Win a double pass to a Son of a Gun ‘Talking Pictures’ session at Luna Leederville with director Julius Avery and Brenton Thwaites

I don’t often reblog anything, but this is something different. Apart from the fact that I got to play a small role as a TRG Officer, or the fact that I got to meet Ewan McGregory on set, this movie was a ground-breaking film for the Perth film industry. The first truly main-stream action film for the state. Car chases, gun fights, pyrotechnics, you name it. This is what Perth talent can do people.

Paddling the Deep End

Nothing gains you more experience than being chucked in the deep end. Problem is, it is not always a good experience. Certainly not like being able to dip your toes in the pool before you get your knees wet, but then many of us wouldn't do anything if we always did that. Taking the metaphor... Continue Reading →

Sanity Check

I am not sure how to begin. This week has been... Traumatic? No, that's too dramatic. Eye opening! That sounds misleading. Extreme. Probably about the closest I guess. Extreme excitement. Extreme fear. Extreme determination. Extreme self-undermining. I knew things were going to be hard, or at least harder, as I change direction in my career.... Continue Reading →

All in a rush

The universe has interesting ways of teaching you things, and I have learned that there are only two constants in the world; the only thing I have control over are my choices, and I will never stop learning. A lifetime in the making, I am finally looking at living a life that I had once... Continue Reading →

Never getting ahead of yourself.

One thing that always comes up in this entertainment life is how much I don't know. It seems just as I start getting an understanding of one thing, it opens the door to another, and the learning begins again, or perhaps it is simply a transition from one learning to a new one.My career has... Stage vs Screen

Frequently, all too frequently, I see discussions around the difference between Film and Theatre, or should I be more accurate in saying Camera and Live Audience. So much emphasis is put on the differences between the two styles, and it scares many actors looking to make the transition from one to the other. Let me... Continue Reading →

Acknowledge the fear and do it anyway

It has been a while between blogs. To be honest, coming up with topic ideas is difficult for me, so here is another stream of consciousness diatribe from the chaotic grey matter of an aging Ham actor. The Audition There are two things that can really unnerve me; public speaking and interviews. Within interviews, I... Continue Reading →

Taking the next step

It has been a month since my last blog. Things have been turning a corner with a lot happening. It has made it very hard for me to focus my thoughts on a blog post. So here I am now, trying to formulate my thoughts in to something that I can write about. I have... Continue Reading →

If I Were 22…

I have seen a recent blogging trend where certain high profile industry people (all industries) ask themselves the question, "What would I tell my 22 year old self?" I have read a few and it is interesting that so many say essentially the same things that I would love to be able to tell myself.... Continue Reading →
