Am I a waste of advertising money?

Well, I hope so.

I have never enjoyed advertising, with the exception of childhood. Even then, I think I was more repelled by it than my friends and peers. These days, I h8 advertising almost as much as I h8 the sound of a mosquito in the middle of the night. Trust me, there are few things I h8 more that high pitched whine that seems to defy directional identification, and you end up fumigating the entire room to end the suffering, the smell of poisons being more preferrable to an auditory annoyance.

It’s has gotten to a point where I am actively blocking adds on social media, where such a feature is possible, and discovering some curious things about the advertising industry in the process. I have also begun to loath many of the agencies/companies that have clearly overdosed on the advertising spend addiction.

There is a growing list of companies and industries that are currently jostling my top tier loathing list for the most loathed loathsome advertisers that have ever been loathed.

I am never going to use or purchase from these entities; thus, their advertising is only turning any potential earnings away, not bring them in.

Now I cannot be alone in this. There has to be others.

So, I have a thought, is there a way to make advertising non-profitable, to make it more costly? Can we, the potential consumer, turn the tables on this corporate advertising fetish?

Ultimately, if, and when, I want to get something, I will research it myself. I don’t mind spending the time to spend my money as wisely as I can.
